Vocalist/keyboardist Liz Fixsen has been a part of the Baltimore jazz scene for many years both as a keyboardist and vocalist, participating in jazz sessions at many venues and playing piano at numerous private functions. She has studied voice with Baltimore vocalists Felicia Carter and Irene Jalenti. As a vocalist, she has performed in Baltimore at Woodberry Kitchen, Trinacria Café, and The Corner Bar. She has also performed at Jazz’s Island Soul Cuisine (Columbia), The Little Market Café and LeeLynn’s (Ellicott City). She currently performs regularly at Syriana Cafe in Ellicott City. She edits and writes for the Baltimore Jazz Alliance (BJA). Her original composition “Ballad for Bill” was included in the BJA’s second compilation album, Baltimore Jazzscapes II. She has performed twice at Baltimore’s An die Musik, including a March 2021 live-stream concert of all originals with her seven-piece band Forward Motion.
Saxophonist Tom Monroe In addition to performing with Liz Fixsen and other groups, Tom Monroe is an elementary vocal/general music teacher for Howard County Public Schools. Tom loves Big Band music and is currently in two community jazz ensembles: playing saxophone with the Columbia Jazz Band and piano with the Patuxent Jazz Band. Tom has a degree in music theory and composition from the University of Maryland and has done graduate studies in Music Education at Towson University. His playing, arrangements and compositions are featured on recordings by the Walter Salb Orchestra and the Windmill Saxophone Quartet.
Bassist Kai Knorr often plays in the house band at the Bluebird Cocktail Room’s gypsy jazz jam and is a member of Appalachian string band Big Cricket. He began studying jazz and orchestral upright bass in his hometown of San Francisco at the Ruth Asawa School of the Arts. After attending college in New Mexico, where he delved into country blues fingerpicking guitar, he played roots, blues, and rock music in Santa Fe dive bars. Seduced by its Old-Time string music scene, he moved to Baltimore last year and is immersing himself in its eclectic and welcoming musical community.
Drummer Sven Radhe has performed with bands in the Baltimore/Washington DC area in the genres of Jazz, Fusion, Rock, Funk, R&B, Marching band, and Symphonic band. He was a member of the Baltimore Ravens Marching band, The Columbia Concert Band, The Columbia Jazz Band, and a founding member of the bands Secret Language, Sound Makers Union, and SoulTET. He has been teaching drums in Columbia, MD since 2004, including his international instruction in Pana
