Concerts In The Courtyard – MAMA TRIED
A showcase of free local music on the Courtyard at Tonge Row in Old Ellicott City
Mama Tried is Harry Zolkower drums, Dave Koplow vocals, Leah DeLano bass and vocals and Geoff Batchelder guitar and vocals.
We are musicians who also play in ACME Band Company, Stealing Liberty, IntoneNation, OldsCool and Scarlet Begoniaz among others.
There are many Dead cover bands in the area who focus on the jam aspect of the band. However, Jerry Garcia was a student and lover of many types of music including blues, country and americana. What makes Mama Tried unique in this sea of great music is that while we do not eschew the classic Dead songs but we emphasize the material Jerry covered by other artists while playing in the Dead and JGB.
Mama Tried features classic music that Jerry Garcia played that can be enjoyed by all audiences not just Dead Heads.
The Concerts in the Courtyard regular season runs April – October, Friday, Saturday & Sunday
