Concerts In The Courtyard – OldsCool
A showcase of free local music on the Courtyard at Tonge Row in Old Ellicott City
OldsCool (formerly Joe and Dave) is Jimmy Donahue on drums, Joe Dyson on guitar and Dave Koplow vocals.
Joe and Jimmy were elementary school buddies from Catonsville who went out on the road backing some of the great country and pop stars like Johnny Rodriguez and Johnny Tillotson. Jimmy got married and settled back in Catonsville to get a job with the state of MD. Joe continued to play nationally with acts like Bo Diddley, Bill Haley and the Comets, the Drifters and Ronnie Dove. 30+ years on the road was enough for Joe. Joe also moved back to Catonsville and was inducted in the inaugural class of the MD Entertainment Hall of Fame
He joined Dave Koplow’s band InToneNation (who will be returning to the Saturday concert series in July) about 5 years ago. In the Spring of 2017 Dave was approached by a bar owner who asked if he could perform as a duo doing some mellower music and Joe and Dave was born. With Jimmy on drums they became OldsCool. The trio is in demand and will play at least 25 times around MD this year.
As the name implies, OldsCool plays music from back in the day with an extensive repertoire of classic country, blues, rock, oldies, soul and Americana.
