Obtaining success for asbestos victims requires discipline and single mindedness. Since 1997, Jonathan Ruckdeschel has built a national reputation as a passionate and effective representative for his clients.
A graduate of the University of Maryland School of Law, Jon is licensed to practice law in the state and federal trial and appellate courts for Maryland and Florida, and the Supreme Court of the United States. Before starting his own practice in 2004, Jon was an Associate Attorney with the law firms of Parker, Dumler & Kiely LLP and Gebhardt & Smith, LLP, building his experience in complex litigation.
In 2004, Jon founded The Ruckdeschel Law Firm, LLC, to allow him the freedom of pursuing justice for his clients without compromise. Since then, Jon has successfully challenged many of the largest corporations – in the United States and abroad – on behalf of his clients and their families.
Jon has successfully litigated scores of asbestos claims and mesothelioma lawsuits, selectively and carefully accepting a limited number of cases every year so that he can personally direct each case. This focus on personal interaction with clients and hands-on management at every step of his clients’ cases is one of the most significant differences between The Ruckdeschel Law Firm, LLC and other, larger law firms that represent asbestos victims. Indeed, many of these larger firms refer their Maryland and Florida cases to Jon.
Not only has Jon been successful in litigating for his clients in trial courts around the country, but Jon’s track record of success also extends to his appellate advocacy. Not just winning for his own clients at Maryland’s highest court, the Court of Appeals of Maryland, Jon has created change that benefits all of Maryland’s asbestos plaintiffs with the cases of Dixon v. Ford, 433 Md. 137, 70 A.3d 328 (2013) and May v. Air & Liquid Systems Corp., 446 Md. 1, 129 A.3d 984 (2015). Jon was also recognized by the Pound Civil Justice Institute with the Appellate Advocacy Award in 2019 for his work as co-counsel in the case of Air & Liquid Systems Corp. v. DeVries.
If you or a loved one have been diagnosed with mesothelioma or other asbestos-related diseases, and are wondering about your legal rights, please contact Jon to discuss them.
