Hues of summer, featuring oil paintings by Severn artist Amanda Milliner and kilnformed glass by Columbia artist Karen Wallace.

Amanda Milliner is known for her use of vibrant colors and alla prima painting techniques. In her current work, the artist investigates light and dark balance with compositions rooted in notan design. Amanda teaches adult art classes at The Columbia Art Center and Howard County Center for the Arts in central Maryland. The artist competes and displays her artwork in regional plein air competitions, gallery shows, as well as in national exhibitions for the Oil Painters of America and the American Impressionist Society.

Bursting with color, Karen Wallace’s abstract work centers around maintaining strict geometry and sharp lines in a material that only bonds when it’s heated to a liquid state. She creates kiln-formed glass bowls in brilliant colors and complex designs for people who love vibrant color and luscious lines. Often featuring hundreds of strips of glass or sections of hand pulled cane, her work is time-consuming and meticulous.
